As July 5th draws nearer, I find myself in utter turmoil over the smoking ban. I know what you're thinking, smoking is bad, save my family, blah blah blah.
If you ask me, it's just another way the government has found a way into our lives. I'm sick of fat cats sitting behind a desk miles away making decisions for me. If I want to let people smoke in my bar, I should be able to, just as I should be able to decide what color shirt to put on in the morning.
So many people are willing to give up their freedom of choice because the government thinks they should. No one disputes the fact that smoking is bad for you and you should not do it, but if you want to smoke you have a right to.
People have commented how nice it will be to go out to bars and not have smokers. To you I make 2 points. First, if you didn't like it to begin with you have the freedom to go somewhere else. Second, what bars are going to be left?
Well, I suppose smokers always have the casinos. (What a joke- good ol' Jim Doyle couldn't bring down the ban on his campaign funders. That crooked SOB sold out your state and your city, but I'll leave that topic for another time.)
I don't need the government to protect me from everything. God gave us free will and our founding Father's fought for our Freedom. Why are you so quick to give that up now?
